CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A shooting in the Arcadia Terrace neighborhood left a teenage boy dead and two others wounded on Friday night.
It happened at about 7 p.m. on a quiet, residential stretch of North Rockwell Street near Mather High School on the North Side.
Police said three 16-year-old boys were getting into a car when shots were fired from an SUV.
The boy who died was shot in the back. The others were shot in the shoulder and knee and were hospitalized. The SUV sped away.
Authorities said the shooting is under investigation, but no one has yet been taken into custody.
Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th) said in a statement to residents that he’s “following up with the city’s Office of Public Safety Administration regarding requests for License plate reader cameras in the area.”
License plate readers have been an effective tool for law enforcement in the past.
