(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – An old office campus in the northern suburbs will have new life -- making food in a new way.

The former Allstate office campus at I-294 and Willow Road in Glenview will be replaced by a 10-building logistics park.

One of the tenants will be Upside Foods, a California-based company that makes “cultivated” meat that is grown in a lab using cells from an animal.

Crains Chicago Business reporter Danny Ecker says it's a high-tech callback to 100 years ago, when poet Carl Sandburg called Chicago “hog butcher to the world.”

The 187,000-square-foot facility will begin operations in 2025.
