(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — After two false starts, the owners of a tulip farm just south of the Wisconsin border say it looks like the weather will finally cooperate for opening their second annual tulip fest on Sunday.

George Richardson said Richardson Farm has had to adjust the date twice already from late April.

This weekend seems like a go for the tulips, but Richardson advises people to check the farm’s website or Facebook page “to make sure that they are in prime condition for viewing.” For details and admission costs, click here.

The cold and wet weather may have delayed the tulips’ big moment but it has not diminished the 600,000 bulbs the Richardsons have planted in the last two years on their 500-acre farm.

Compared to the inaugural tulip fest last year, Richardson said there is twice as much to see.

They’ve been mulching the walking areas, so they shouldn’t be muddy, he said.
