CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Some residents of the Avondale neighborhood, on Chicago’s Northwest Side, are raising concerns about what they see as unsafe road conditions.
CBS 2 was at the scene where a semi was ripped apart when it slammed into the Kennedy overpass on Sacramento Avenue.
This was no surprise to Tim Suh, who lives nearby.
“They should definitely put more visible signs for the height for these trucks because literally, probably two or three trucks a month hit this thing,” Suh told CBS 2.
This is similar to the issues on Lake Street, where semis frequently get stuck under the “El.”
And Suh said that’s just one problem.
“The speed in which they fly down from Diversey to Belmont has been incredible,” Suh noted.
Someone lost control and went through his fence and into his yard.
CBS 2 found that in the past five years there have been 105 crashes on Sacramento between Belmont and Diversey.
