EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - As the demolition of Ryan Field continues, it’s not clear where Northwestern’s football team will play its home games for the season that starts in just over six months.
Behind blue fencing, construction equipment is removing rubble and seating from the nearly-century old stadium. It’s not clear where Northwestern fans will sit for home games this and next season.
WildcatReport.com reported the team hasn’t signed any contracts yet for temporary home fields and may even have to move the date of its home opener.
The site said Athletic Director Derrick Gragg revealed to alums last week the team will play a home game at Lambeau Field in Wisconsin, not far from a Big Ten opponent.
The team is reportedly running into challenges with venues like SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Wrigley Field and Soldier Field.
The university’s athletic department told WBBM in a statement Northwestern is still exploring options and contracts are being finalized.
