(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 53-year-old man died after he fell from a tree stand while hunting in Starke County this weekend.

On Saturday, first responders received a report of a fatal tree stand fall at the 3500 block of S. 700 E. in Knox.

Officers discovered Larry Sedwich of Cedar Lake fell from the stand while he was deer hunting. Sedwich was not wearing a full-body safety harness.

Sedwich was pronounced dead at the scene. Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating his fall.

Officials are urging hunters to wear a full-body safety harness while out hunting on elevated platforms.
