PORTAGE, IND. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A toddler is dead in Northwest Indiana after a shooting.
The shooting happened this week in Portage. Police said a 2-year-old girl got a hold of a gun in her family’s home and pulled the trigger once, shooting herself. Paramedics began life-saving action and took her to a hospital in Portage.
She was flown to a trauma center in the Chicago area for advanced treatment but later died.
Portage police are investigating and said they will present evidence to county prosecutors for any charges that may be appropriate.
