The Obama Presidential Center has announced new youth sports programming for teens on the South Side.
It's hosting volleyball and basketball programs this summer as part of a newly announced youth programming partnership between the Obama Foundation and the nonprofit After School Matters.
The Obama Foundation said the programs are meant to encourage teens to be active while instilling leadership, teamwork and other skills young people can use throughout their lives. Instructors will also focus on teens' mental health.
The programs will run from July to August and are open to high schoolers ages 14 to 18 who live in or go to school in the South Shore, Woodlawn or Washington Park communities.
Interested teens can submit an online form by April 15 to be considered for a spot.
