(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayoral challenger Ja'Mal Green is scoffing at Lori Lightfoot's apology after her campaign asked public school teachers to help them recruit student volunteers for her re-election.
Green, a community activist, said he doesn't think much of the mayor's apology or her explanation that a campaign aide made a mistake. He said the controversial move was only shut down after the public learned about it.
He notes Lightfoot campaigned four years ago on promises to root out corruption but there are numerous examples of her doing what other politicians have done.
For example, he said, the mayor did not reappoint a school board member who was critical of her so that she could install former Ald. Michael Scott in his place. Then, Lightfoot named Scott's sister to the City Council, Green said.
Green is the guest on "At Issue," which airs 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
on Sunday.
