A judge this week revoked the pre-trail release for 48-year-old Marvin Carter.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin says on July 11th, Carter walked up to a woman at the entrance of the Illinois Prairie Path in Wheaton, and punched her in the face and neck. She is expected to recover from her injuries
Berlin says at the time of the attack, Carter had been released pre-trial on previous non-detainable aggravated battery and battery charges.
Berlin says Illinois' Safe-T-Act needs to be revised to allow judges more discretion to detain people accused of certain offenses.
