CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police have apprehended two men after a string of separate armed robberies on the North Side overnight.

A 63-year-old woman, who was walking near Grace Street and Hoyne Avenue at about 11:30 p.m., was stopped by two men in a white sedan. Police said the men were carrying rifles. They stole the woman’s property and took off.

A few minutes later, near Leavitt and Roscoe Streets, police said a similar shakedown took place. This time, a 42-year-old man was the victim. Officials said the suspects were, again, two men with rifles who got out of a white sedan.

At Berteau Avenue and Paulina Street, police said the same thing happened only minutes after the robber near Leavitt and Roscoe Streets. The victim was a 61-year-old man.

Just before midnight, CPD said the robbers held up two victims: a 43-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, who were standing together on the sidewalk. Again, the white sedan was seen.

Then, police said a 67-year-old man was robbed in the 900 block of West Dakin Street shortly before 3 a.m. According to authorities, two men got out of a white sedan, implied they had weapons, and robbed the man.

This time, though, officers spotted the car and — a few minutes later — the suspects were in custody.

No physical injuries were reported in any of the robberies.
