(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Seniors were able to get COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday, thanks a specially tailored opportunity offered by the Arlington Heights Park District.
The idea was to reach out to older residents who may not be tech-savvy enough to navigate all of the sometimes confusing array of vaccine opportunities online.
Millie Rathburger said she’s looking forward to getting off Zoom and back out into public with her husband, Ron.
“We were all just locked down, like we were prisoners,” the 82-year-old said Wednesday.
Arlington Heights Park District executive director Carrie Fullerton and her staff called 1,300 seniors to tell them about the vaccination, made possible with help from Jewel Osco. Hundreds received doses.
