PARK FOREST (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The weekend death of a 5-year-old girl in Park Forest has led to murder charges against her grandparents.
Sixty-two-year-old Klent Elwoods and 57-year-old Lisa Jones admitted to detectives that they physically abused their granddaughter, according to Park Forest Police. They were questioned after police said officers and paramedics responded to a home on Osage Street Friday night for an unresponsive child.
Officers found 5-year-old Jada Moore with signs of recent and past abuse.
The department said Moore was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to Comer Children’s where she died Saturday morning. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide, due to child abuse.
