CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- PAWS Chicago wants to kick off the new year on a positive note.
Chicago's largest no-kill humane organization is waiving adoption fees for "overlooked pets" - select adult dogs and cats from Sunday, Jan. 17 through Saturday, Jan. 23.
The virtual “Don’t Forget Me” adoption event is designed to give attention to adult animals who have been overlooked by potential adopters.

PAWS Chicago said while thousands of dogs and cats have found homes through their virtual adoption process, many adult animals have been passed over for younger dogs and cats, causing them to stay in the shelter much longer.
Not ready to adopt? PAWS Chicago is also seeking special foster homes who can give these animals a temporary break from the adoption center. Foster homes allow pets an opportunity to experience a loving home environment where they can grow and flourish.

During the virtual “Don’t Forget Me” adoption event, those interested can meet animals like: Ditto, a one-year-old Hound mix who is looking for a home with a yard where this athletic pup can run and play. He is smart and eager to please his favorite people; Bach, a two-year-old Domestic Shorthair who loves to be around his humans and to have daily play sessions with them; Winston, a one-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who loves long walks, runs, and hikes. He would love a family that is home often and with another canine companion who matches his energy level; and, Tad, a one-year-old Domestic Shorthair who is very active and a clever cat who appreciates a good head scratch and play session with his humans.

All animals eligible for waived fees during this adoption event have a “Don’t Forget Me” banner on their website profile. Select long-term adult dogs and cats (one year and older) will have adoption fees waived.
Adoption requirements and refundable $100 training deposit for courses completed at the PAWS Chicago Training Center for all dogs still apply.
