CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois State Police believe a man was walking along the Bishop Ford Expressway when he was struck and killed by a vehicle.
Shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday, troopers responded to the crash at 111th Street on the outbound Bishop Ford and found the pedestrian. He was declared dead at the scene.
It’s not clear why the man was walking on the freeway, and police didn’t release many details at this point about the car that hit him.
Illinois State Police said during their investigation, though, another car hit the back of a squad car while the trooper was busy directing traffic away from the site of the crash.
The trooper was not injured.
