Pedestrian killed on Dan Ryan Expressway overnight: ISP

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Bronzeville man is dead after being hit by a vehicle while he was walking on a Chicago expressway overnight.

Illinois State Police said 28-year-old Rashid Shepard was on the outbound Dan Ryan near 43rd Street when he was hit by a vehicle around 12:25 a.m.

The accident prompted the closure of the outbound lanes, including the Chinatown feeder ramp.

Everything reopened around 4 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Shepard was hospitalized with minor injuries.
