CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Penguins from the Shedd Aquarium got to take another field trip outside of the aquarium and this time made a new friend!
Four Magellanic penguins Howard, Georgia, Fitz, and Mercedes from the Shedd Aquarium got to take a field trip to The Friends Experience on Michigan Avenue - a pop-up event featuring the popular TV show "Friends."
The penguins got the chance to walk through exact replicas from recognizable sets, experience new sensations and sights, and even made friends with Joey’s stuffed toy penguin Hugsy!

According to the Shedd, field trips help the aquarium demonstrate how the animal care team introduces exercise and variety for the penguins each day as part of a comprehensive welfare plan.
The Shedd Aquarium encourages the public to get out and safely explore places like the aquarium and The Friends Experience as the City of Chicago begins to reopen and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public can purchase timed tickets to visit the famous penguins and several other species of incredible aquatic life at Shedd Aquarium. By purchasing a ticket to visit, guests are directly contributing to Shedd’s mission and helping to offset the financial impacts of COVID-19.

Additionally, The Friends Experience reopens to the public on Wednesday, March 17. The experience focuses on providing a safe environment through the use of timed ticketing, regular cleaning and sanitization, temperature checks, and the requirement of masks and social distancing. The public can purchase their tickets online now. A portion of each ticket purchase will be donated to My Block, My Hood, My City to support their efforts to support youth education and arts in underserved communities.
