PEORIA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Planned Parenthood clinic reopens today after being heavily damaged by a firebombing last year.
The 2023 attack destroyed the Peoria health center and, according to Planned Parenthood of Illinois President Jennifer Welch, robbed the community from accessing much-needed health care.
After undergoing a massive renovation, the facility is once again ready to welcome patients. The newly renovated health center features state-of-the-art equipment and new exam and ultrasound rooms.
Tyler Massengill pleaded guilty to the firebombing and was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of more than $1.4 million.
