(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One person is dead after a shooting at a south suburban high school on Saturday.

In a letter on its website, Prairie Hills School District 144 said a targeted dispute led to the shooting that occurred just before 1:30 p.m. after a junior high school boys basketball tournament being held at Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills Stringer Harris.

The school district will have counselors and support services available to students and says Country Club Hills police are investigating.

The shooting comes just one year after a Hillcrest High School student was shot and killed after a homecoming football game.
