Chip's Story

PAWS Chicago said Chip (aka Mr. Chip) is a very good boy! They don’t know where he came from or what his life was like before PAWS, but the shelter said they do know that once you earn his trust, you are his human. PAWS Chicago describes Chip as a sensitive, old soul, who is cautious to let new people into his life. Chip would love a calm and patient human ready to help him take on the world at his pace.

Take the ComPETibility quiz here.

His foster dad said, “Chip loves nothing more than being a big ol’ couch potato. He’s not keen on fetch, but loves to play catch...or at least he loves to try to catch the balls you toss him! He likes stuffed animals without actual stuffing, cookie-style biscuits, and being outside on the patio where he can see all the action without interacting with other people or dogs.”

Are you Chip’s forever family? You might be if you have older kids (12+), are a pet-free home, and live in a quiet area with no elevator (or vacuums - Chip says, “vacuums are loud!”).

Chip is an "underdog," who with extra help can blossom into a wonderdog! Chip won't fit in every home, so consider your ComPETibilty score carefully before falling in love.

Do you have a home that fits Chip's needs, but are on the fence about adopting? Consider fostering him for a few weeks first! Fostering with the intent to adopt is a great way to see how Chip fits in before making things official. While fostering, you’ll have full support from PAWS for medical, behavioral, and food needs. To get started, apply to foster and reach out to acfoster@pawschicago.org.

Chip can’t wait to meet you!

If you’re interested in adopting this pet, there are few steps you must complete before scheduling an appointment at PAWS Chicago's Lincoln Park Adoption Center:

1.   Please start by taking PAWS Chicago's ComPETibility Quiz to make sure they’re a good fit for your home. Your ComPETibility Score will help you compare your home to their needs!

2.   After completing your ComPETibility Quiz, you will be emailed a link to complete your Adoption Application.

3.   Finally, complete the PAWS Chicago Foster Pet Adoption Inquiry Form! Once this form is submitted, the Adoption Team will take a look at your adoption inquiry and, if they have next steps, reach out within a few days.

Please note that while PAWS can’t place holds on adoptable animals for your scheduled appointment, there are always plenty of homeless pets looking for a home! If you don’t meet the perfect pet, please feel free to complete a new Foster Pet Adoption Inquiry Form.
