(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Activist Catholic priest Father Michael Pfleger is pushing back at criticisms of the way his South Side church is helping migrants.
The basement of Saint Sabina Roman Catholic Church is lined with tables full of clothing for migrants, and the church has welcomed new arrivals.
But in his Sunday Sermon, Father Michael Pfleger said he's heard complaints from other pastors that he should be helping poor Black people instead. He said some in his congregation have confronted him, too.
On Sunday, he said Saint Sabina will feed and clothe anyone who is in need because that’s what the Bible instructs Christians to do.
Anyone who has a problem with that has a problem with Jesus, Pfleger said.
The predominately Black congregation cheered his remarks.
