(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The owner of a Northwest Side barbecue restaurant is trying to get to the bottom of an issue with DoorDash that may involve scammers.

The owner of Smoque BBQ on the 3800 block of North Pulaski says it started with drivers showing up at the restaurant to pick up orders the establishment did not receive.

Barry Sorkin says a check of the Smoque storefront on DoorDash showed his storefront or listing was replaced with a fake.

“I’m assuming this phantom site is connected to somebody else’s bank account,” he said.

While this was a new one to Sorkin, it has happened before with DoorDash and other delivery apps and ride-shares.

After posting about the perplexing situation on Facebook, the phantom site was removed on DoorDash.

Sorkin said he’s working with DoorDash to try to figure out what happened.
