In Lakeview East, a water pipe has burst inside a storage facility Wednesday,
causing a number of headaches for customers.
With the thawing temperatures, a number of residents and businesses are now becoming aware of gushing water pipes that have burst due to freezing, such is the case in Lakeview at a storage facility.
Stacks of soggy boxes line the 2nd floor hallway at the Life Storage on
Broadway. A number of customers holding mops while assessing the damage and working to prevent further damage to their stored property. Many too upset to say anything at all.
"And as you can see, water is still coming into the unit," said Life Storage customer Phillip.
Life Storage customer Phillip tells WBBM that the management has been kind, but unclear about what to expect next.

Customer Joel says that he was told by Life Storage employees to take
pictures, and video of any damage to his property.
"They called me in, and manager said if there's any permanent damage or you suffer some damage - notify them. I'm gonna give it a day or two to dry off before I see if there's anything permanent," Joel said.
Life Storage representatives declined to comment but customers say they
have been told that they can not remove any damaged items until the
insurance claims are processed.
