(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — When Marvel and Disney were looking for a very special skeleton, they turned to a couple from southwest suburban Plainfield known for their impressive Halloween displays.

Aubrey Appel calls the Halloween displays her husband Dave and she put on each year "over the top."

The displays are so good, it caught the eye of a representative of Marvel and Disney who wanted them to make them a special skeleton.

“We were like, yes, absolutely, 1000%.Then they gave us a picture of what they wanted us to build and then it was up to us,” Appel said

“When we make things we want to try and make them as identical as we possibly can with the materials that we have.”

Disney asked the couple to create a replica of the metal Wolverine skeleton from the hit movie "Deadpool & Wolverine."

“We wanted to try and make it look as identical as possible. So we put the little tufts of hair on top of his head and on his beard. We put the little pieces of decaying skin on the side of his skull.

“And we gave him his Wolverine claws as well, because he's not Wolverine without his claws.”

She said Disney was so impressed by the skeleton, company executives asked the couple to send it to the company so it could be featured at a Disney function.
