CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Teachers at the Chicago High School for the Arts planned to go on strike this morning. Last night, the Chicago Teachers Union announced the strike is off.

The union said the strike was called off after what it called "major breakthroughs" at the bargaining table. There are tentative agreements regarding "longstanding issues, including social worker and healthcare staffing, compensation, and school schedules", according to the union.

The 100 teachers and staff rallied last week.

They've been negotiating with the school's board of directors for about a year. A strike could still occur tomorrow. There are about 600 students at the school in Humboldt Park.
