CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As millennials become the dominant demographic in the workforce, a marketing company said they will change the way managers talk to their employees.
Dana Elmquist, president of FieldCast in Milwaukee, said millennials and younger generations crave authenticity from everyone, and that includes the people in the corner office.
Elmquist said he believes podcasting may be the next office communication tool.
"The medium lends itself so well to authenticity which might be lacking from some corporate communications like email and video," Elmquist said.
He said the numbers in a FieldCast survey of office workers bears that out.
“Eighty-three percent of employees want to hear from their company via podcast and 78% of employees want to hear from their company leadership via podcast," Elmquist said. "It also offers a time-shifted medium so that employees can listen when and where they want.”
