CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – On Thursday, a Cook County judge denied pre-trial release for 23-year-old Anthony Garcia, of Chicago, who is now charged with 5 felony armed robbery counts related to the same number of social media marketplace meet ups in Gage Park over the course of about 2 weeks, from mid to late March.

Chicago Police say that since March 17th, Garcia had been arranging with online sellers of anime trading cards to meet in person. When the seller arrived, in the 5200 or 5300 blocks of South Kedzie, Garcia then displayed a gun and took the cards.

Garcia was arrested Tuesday after several of these armed robberies were reported over the weekend.

Court records show that the victims were all men with ages ranging from 19-29.

Garcia is scheduled to next appear in court on April 7th.
