WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in Wisconsin said an arrest has been made in connection with a Friday afternoon shooting inside a mall just outside of Milwaukee that left eight people injured.

Wauwatosa police announced this afternoon that a 15-year-old boy is in custody for the shooting inside of the Mayfair Mall and a weapon has been recovered.

“It's important to stress that this act of violence was not a random one but an altercation between two groups. As often happens in these types of situations, innocent bystanders get injured. There were four innocent bystanders who received non life-threatening injuries,” Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber told reporters on Sunday afternoon.

Investigators said the teen ran out of the mall with other people after opening fire. His name has not been released.

Police also said the shooting does not appear to have been random and there is no danger to the community.
