Police chase on Edens Expressway end in crash on Near NW Side

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Illinois State Police were involved in a pursuit Monday night that started in the northern suburbs and ended on Chicago's Near Northwest Side.

Police spotted a vehicle that they said had been involved in a “possible armed kidnapping.” Officers tried to make a traffic stop on the Edens Expressway near Dundee Road, at about 10:45 p.m.

They said the driver took off, and State Police said the pursuit went on for miles into Chicago, ending with a crash involving another vehicle at Milwaukee and Diversey. There were minor injuries.

A light pole was knocked over. The Three people in the car being pursued got out and ran, according to police.

They were caught and were being treated for injuries at a hospital.

Police said this remains an active investigation.
