MILWAUKEE, WIS. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Authorities investigating a Milwaukee County Children's Court Judge who was recently charged with child pornography were assisted by a Racine County Sheriff's K-9.

The now-suspended judge, 38-year-old Brett Blomme, was charged with seven counts of possessing child pornography after the police dog was taken to the home he shares with his husband and two children. The police dog, named Karma, is an English lab.

Authorities said they had been tipped about social media activity by the Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Racine County Sheriff's Investigator Jon Bechman told CBS 58 Milwaukee the dog can detect tiny electronic components.

"For us to go into a normal three or four bedroom house and try to find something as small as a micro SD card takes a lot of time and a lot of work. That's where Karma can come in," Bechman said.

The dog is trained to detect a flame-retardant chemical called TPPO commonly used in electronics.

Karma is also used to sniff out contraband phones at the county jail.
