SKOKIE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Skokie Police have identified the 9-year-old boy, who was shot dead in an apartment early yesterday and are currently investigating the incident.
Officers found two wounded children when they responded to calls of shots fired in an apartment building near Main Street and Skokie Boulevard shortly after midnight.
Skokie police said they treated the 9-year-old until paramedics arrived, but he died at the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. The medical examiner has identified him as Jeremiah Ellis of Evanston. Police said a 5-year-old suffered a graze wound.
The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force is helping with the investigation.
