EVANSTON, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Evanston police are investigating two separate shootings Sunday night that left one person dead and five others wounded.
According to Evanston police, the first shooting happened around 7:15 p.m. Sunday near the gas station at Green Bay Road and Asbury.
Officials said a 17-year-old boy was killed and four teenagers - two females and two males - were wounded.
The teen who died was identified by the the Cook County medical examiner's office as 17-year-old Karl Dennison. Those who were wounded were between the ages of 14 and 18 years old.
No one is in custody. Police said there is no danger to the public.
Meanwhile, shortly before midnight, Evanston police received a 911 call of shots fired at Chicago Avenue and Howard.
Upon arrival, police found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was unclear if the shootings were connected. No suspects are in custody in that incident, as well.
