Police investigate report of shots fired at Yorktown Center

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Authorities in west suburban Lombard say there was "no active threat” to the public as police investigated a report of shots fired at the Yorktown Center mall Friday.

“There is a police presence in the parking areas & ring road east/southeast of Yorktown Center shopping mall while police investigate a report of shots fired. Police determined that there is no active threat to the public & mall operations are continuing uninterrupted,” the village government tweeted Friday afternoon.

Village officials posted an update later Friday saying police had cleared the area but did not elaborate.

Additional details were not available.
