(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in south suburban Olympia Fields are investigating a shooting inside of a Walmart store Sunday morning.
Officers responded to the store on Western Avenue around 9:30 a.m. after hearing reports of shots fired. There they found a female security guard with a head wound. She was hospitalized and later released.
investigations are ongoing, but Olympia Fields Police said it appears the security guard was involved in a struggle with several shoplifters.
At one point of that struggle, the suspect fired a gunshot. Authorities said the woman likely hit her head after falling during the incident. No arrests have been made. Police said there is no threat to the public.
