(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are on the hunt for a pair of kittens that were stolen and then discarded at O’Hare Airport earlier this month.

But first detectives hope to make contact with two people seen in surveillance images with a pet carrier. Police say the man and the woman are believed to be the heroes here.

On Dec. 6, a passenger was at O’Hare waiting for his next flight with the carrier and the kittens inside. Someone stole the carrier and threw the container in a garbage can, police said.

The two people in the newly circulated image found the carrier and left the airport, police said. They are considered rescuers of the animals, authorities said.

Anyone with information is asked to call (312) 746-7394.
