CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you park in downtown Chicago parking garages, you might want to be more careful about leaving things in your vehicles.
Chicago police are warning drivers after at least 18 vehicle smash and grab incidents in Loop parking garages.
In most cases, police say the thieves broke windows to steal property from inside the vehicles.
At least a dozen of the break-ins happened during the daytime-- between 9 a.m.-5 p.m.--when many people are working.
Six incidents were reported in the 100 and 200 blocks of North Wells Avenue.
The advice from police-- Remove or hide valuables, use or install a car alarm or anti-theft system, park in well-lit areas, and avoid parking near larger vehicles because they could provide cover for a thief breaking into you car.
