ST. JOHN'S, IND. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Lake Central School Corporation in St. John's, Indiana has ordered that teachers remove posters from classrooms that are intended to encourage acceptance.
The posters have messages like “Science is Real,” “Humans are not Illegal” and “Black Lives Matter" and also the Pride Flag.
"That pride flag in Illinois is not considered a political message. In Oregon, it's not considered a political message," Lake Central School Corporation Superintendent Larry Veracco said at the board meeting. "In Indiana, it is."
Some who spoke during public comment including students, disagreed with the decision to remove the posters and messages.
"I've never felt so not accepted until now, " said Collea Soldara.
This became an issue after a complaint from a parent.
