Pope Leo is really going to have a say in who is elected to the U.S. Senate ….Illinois governor and local offices in Will County.
Pope Leo or Robert Francis Prevost, the name he was given at birth, is registered to vote from an address in southwest suburban New Lenox.
As an American citizen, he is allowed to vote from overseas and that’s just what he’s done.
He will become the first head of the Catholic Church to cast a ballot in a United States election.

The Will County Clerk’s Office says the pope requested a ballot earlier in the month and the Vatican says the pope has sent back his completed ballot.
Since 2008, Pope Leo has voted in a total of five Republican and Democratic primary elections and four general elections. This will be the fifth general election he casts a ballot.
