CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A report of a person on the tracks caused chaos and confusion for weary CTA Blue Line passengers Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the CTA announced that an "unauthorized person" had been spotted on the subway tracks near Division. The line was immediately halted, between Addison and Racine, with crews cutting power to the train, and frustrated passengers became restless in the stalled train cars.

Jennifer Ramirez was a passenger on board the train and she said a conductor informed them that a man jumped off the train and onto the tracks. She added that after being stopped for several minutes, conditions in the cars became unpleasant.

"It started to get really, really hot. People were opening the doors…people were jumping out of the train and walking on the little platform on the side, and she (CTA conductor) made an announcement that they would be arrested, so they stopped," Ramirez said.

Chicago firefighters responded to the scene, assessing the affected  three cars' passengers. Everybody was ok and no one had to be transported to the hospital, Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said.

Chicago Police said they were dispatched to the 1200 block of North Milwaukee for a call of criminal trespass but did not provide any additional details. As of 10:30 a.m., officers were still on the scene, according to a police spokesperson.

CTA Blue Line service resumed at around 10:00 a.m., but delays were significant.
