The principal of Whitney Young High School, Rickey Harris, escaped injury after being shot at Friday night while driving in Washington Heights on the South Side.
Around 10:15 p.m., the 53-year-old was southbound in the 1300 block of West 95th Street when bullets struck his vehicle, Chicago police said.
“While driving, I’m shaking, realizing these were gunshots, multiple gunshots,” Harris told ABC7 Chicago. “If anyone’s looking for a sign to believe in God, here I am. Here I am.”
Harris wasn’t present at the high school Tuesday, school officials said.
Area detectives were investigating the incident.
