CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The President of the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association alleges that the Chicago Public Schools Law Department conspired with an allegedly abusive supervisor of principals to change the course of an investigation.
"It's a scenario for totalitarian hell," said Troy LaRaviere, President of the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association.
Troy LaRaviere said there are numerous written complaints about the supervisor.
"He told principals to resign or he'd ruin their career. He regularly cursed out principals..."he said.
LaRaviere shared one complaint: "He could have 'choked the f*** out of that *****' while referring to an interaction he had with a female principal."
He alleged that in one case a principal who filed a formal complaint, Michelle, he called her, had the tables turned on her by the supervisor and the law department, acting together, to manufacture a case against her.
"The Law Department's behavior toward Michelle is eerily similar to their behavior toward students who were assaulted and raped in the district's schools, using the information they obtained in those investigations to undermine the credibility of the rape victims," LaRaviere said.
LaRaviere said there’s an Inspector General investigation into allegations against the supervisor.
He said he’s demanding one into the conduct of the Law Department, too.
"Where in American government can that same government official be accused of a crime, and be able to work with the police and the prosecutor who are investigating him to manufacture a case against his victim," LaRaviere said.
LaRaviere said if the Inspector General's Office declines, he'll ask for legislative hearings.
WBBM Newsradio reached out to CPS for comment and received the following response:
"The district takes all accusations of wrongdoing and inappropriate behavior seriously and all questions about the ongoing investigation should be directed to the Inspector General's office," CPS said in a statement.
