SPRINGFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Governor Pritzker wants Illinois to join the growing number of states offering direct admission to college for some students.
High school students who opt into the Direct Admission Program would share their GPAs and email addresses and in return receive a letter telling them which public universities and community colleges in Illinois they've been accepted to.
That's the plan under a proposal highlighted by the governor during his State of the State address.
It aims to make it easier for students to apply to college, save money on fees and keep more talent in state.
University of Illinois' campuses in Urbana-Champaign and Chicago would not directly admit but invite certain students to apply.
