(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House, Gov. J.B. Pritzker is leading a push against some of Trump's expected moves with a new coalition.

Pritzker and fellow Democrat Gov. Jared Polis, of Colorado, have set up a coalition of fellow governors to fight what they're calling "increasing threats of autocracy."

The organization, called Governors Safeguarding Democracy, follows a setup similar to what's been done for abortion rights and aims to strengthen democratic institutions at the state level during a second Trump presidency.

Pritzker indicated mass deportations and the rollback of environmental regulations are among the issues that the group will marshal resources against.

It's supported by the bipartisan group GovAct, which is led by former Republican and Democratic governors and is being funded by philanthropic groups. Both Pritzker and Polis promoted the group as non-partisan but did not share any names of current GOP lawmakers involved.

Pritzker, a billionaire, said he hasn't contributed any of his own funds.
