SKOKIE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A group of pro-Palestinian protestors Thursday afternoon staged a sit-in outside of Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky's office.
The protest remained peaceful outside of Schakowsky's Skokie office. The group called on the Illinois representative to sign a resolution asking for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. They accused the lawmaker of sitting on the sidelines.
In a statement, the congresswoman said she spoke with the protestors on the phone.
“We must guarantee that all civilians, Palestinians, and Israelis are protected. I am doing everything in my power to end the violence as quickly as possible," Schakowsky said.
Seven of the 25 protesters were cited with criminal trespass after refusing to leave the building when it closed, according to Skokie Police.
