(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Media personality Eric Ferguson, who has been off the air for weeks amid accusations of sexual misconduct and abusive behavior toward women, is leaving his morning talk radio job with The Mix (WTMX 101.9 FM).

The news was reported Friday by media blogger Robert Feder, who quoted a statement attributed to Ferguson.

“I feel that returning to the air at this time, in this environment, will be an unfair distraction to my colleagues, and the rest of the morning show members who work so hard,” Ferguson, 54, said.

He had been off the air all month in the wake of a series of court filings from former co-workers accusing him of misconduct. Officials with the Hubbard Radio station reportedly were weighing the fate of Ferguson, who denied wrongdoing.

One complainant includes a former co-worker of Ferguson’s now employed by US99 (99.5 FM), an Audacy sister station to WBBM Newsradio.

Terms of Ferguson’s departure were not disclosed, Feder said. The Mix morning show is expected to continue with Brian “Whip” Paruch, Nikki Chuminatto and Violeta Podrumedic.
