(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago's famed Original Rainbow Cone is once again expanding out of state.

It started in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood nearly a century ago and, in recent years, has opened several shops in the suburbs.

Now, the famous Rainbow Cone is coming to Michigan. New Buffalo's beach goers and locals can now enjoy this nearly 100-year-old ice cream legacy. Known for its iconic layering technique, the cone features chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House, pistachio, and orange sherbet.

With outposts in Indiana, Wisconsin and  Florida,  Michigan becomes the fourth state to indulge in this sweet Chicago tradition.

The company also recently announced that it recently opened in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
