CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A little over a month after the NASCAR Race in Chicago, a Formula 1 showcase has been announced for the city.

Red Bull will be demonstrating the speed and agility of its RB7 on a more than 2,000-foot long “pop-up track” running along Madison Street and through the parking lots of the United Center.

Red Bull used the RB7 car during the 2011 Formula 1 season. That season, Red Bull won both the Constructors’ Championship and the Drivers’ Championship with legendary driver Sebastian Vettel as the top driver.

Over 19 races in the 2011 season, the RB7 only ever finished outside of the top five on two occasions.

The event will take place on the evening of Sept. 29. In the driver’s seat will be Patrick Friesacher, the longest-serving Red Bull driver.

Admission is free, but attendees will have to register on the Red Bull website to attend.
