CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A City Council committee reportedly will take up a multi-million settlement offer to the woman who was the victim of a wrongful police raid nearly three years ago.
Anjanette Young was getting ready for bed and was naked February 21, 2019 when Chicago police forced their way into her home. They had been acting on a tip that turned out to be bad information. Young was handcuffed with no clothes on and forced to stand there for more than 30 minutes while police searched her home.
Now, according to the Tribune, the City Council Finance Committee meet Monday and take up a proposed settlement of $2.9 million for Anjanette Young.
CBS 2 had reported a year ago that Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration went to great lengths, but failed to keep the station from airing video of that raid.
Following the release of the video, Mayor Lightfoot personally met with Young and apologized for what happened.
The proposed settlement could advance for full council consideration later this week.
