An international rescue effort is now over, with the final two beluga whales getting settled at Shedd Aquarium.
7-year-old Gimli and 8-year-old Yukon arrived early Tuesday morning from Marineland, a shuttered theme park in Ontario, Canada.
The Shedd Aquarium had already taken in eight other belugas from Marineland, however, one of those belugas, 23-year-old Peekachu, died last week.
The results of a necropsy to determine a cause of death are pending.
With all Marineland belugas now rescued, Shedd officials say care, conservation and commitment continue, adding it may take months before the whales are fully settled.
Behind the scenes, the animal care team is observing all nine rescued belugas 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
