PARK RIDGE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An extra alarm fire late Tuesday night in a 36-unit condo building in Park Ridge left some residents injured and displaced dozens.
There was heavy smoke and flames shooting through the roof of the four-story building on the 200-block of Thames Parkway when firefighters arrived at about 11pm.
There were multiple calls for rescue on the third and fourth floors.
Firefighters got everyone out safely. Several were checked out for injuries, including a firefighter. No injuries are considered life-threatening.
The building does not have a sprinkler system. The fire would take hours to put out. The building was heavily damaged and, according to the fire department, is uninhabitable.
All residents were displaced.
The cause is under investigation but is believed to be accidental, according to the fire department.
